The VK162B and VK162B Vehicle Noise Measurements Kits include everything you need to make sound level checks on car, motorcycle and truck exhausts. As the kit is designed specifically for vehicle noise measurement, the sound level meter has a mode that takes the average from three measurements as required by ISO 5130 similar standards. This version of the kit includes a data logging, integrating sound level meter and software.
As the kit includes a microphone extension cable and remote measurement button, the processes of setting up the microphone and making the measurements can be done by a single person. The operator can sit in the vehicle controlling the engine speed while starting the measurement and averaging process at the same time.
The standard VNK162B and VNK162B Vehicle Noise Kits include the following parts:
Vehicle noise measurements are generally carried out in line with the ISO 5130 standard and other similar measurement standards. In this case the microphone should be positioned 0.5m from the exhaust outlet at an angle of 45°. The engine is brought up to the speed specified by the standard (it varies a little for different vehicles) and a measurement is made. This is repeated three times and the sound level meter calculates the LArep as required.
A 0.5m stick with 45° template is included with the kit to assist quick and correct positioning of the microphone.
Once the microphone is in place, the operator can sit in the driver's seat, controlling the engine revs and operating the sound level meter at the same time.
This Vehicle Noise Measurement Kit includes an Optimus integrating sound level meter. This will be either the CR161B or CR162B depending on whether you choose the Class 1 or Class 2 version.
This meter can be used for general surveys but also for any applications that demand the use of an Integrating Sound Level Meter. It is particularly suited to occupational noise assessments around factories and workshops. Software is included to download the measurements and produce reports.
You can find out more about this integrating sound level meter on the Optimus web page.
If you also carry out environmental noise surveys then have a look at the Vehicle Noise Kit with Environmental Meter. It has all the features of this kit but adds environmental noise measurements. We can supply Vehicle Noise Kits with any of the meters from the Optimus Range.
The meter can be easily removed from the vehicle noise kit and used as a hand-held sound level meter for other applications. The main features of the meter are:
This meter is suitable for many applications, including occupational noise assessments in line with the noise at work regulations.
